Murder at the Racetrack

Apparently the thrill of this year's Kentucky Derby has been topped by a murder straight out of a Dick Francis mystery novel.

The winner of Saturday’s 138th Kentucky Derby stunned viewers in a surprise finish. Then, hours later, a murder, also at Churchill Downs, left investigators and racetrack officials stumped.
It’s a mystery that could have come straight from a murder novel with the killer appearing to have gone on and off the track undetected.

The race was won by a long shot, I'll Have Another who went off at 15-1, and the murder happened just a few yards from his stall. Large paper packages from the scene were removed as evidence.

And all this time I thought Mr. Francis was just making this stuff up.
